The Cottage is at the end of a private road, to the south and west surrounded by grazing land, to the north and east by heather and a pond which attracts waterfowl. Water hen, seagulls, ducks, partridge, black-grouse, crossbill, curlew, oystercatcher, capercaille, osprey, buzzards, falcons, with patience the red kite, and the golden eagle.

From the A9 north ( Perth- Inverness) you branch off at the first junction past Aviemore ( sign-posted Grantown-on-Spey) follow the road signposted for Grantown on Spey until you come to a Branch off to Boat of Garten - Nethybridge. Go through Boat of Garten but stay on the main road, which has a sharp left turn at the Boat Hotel followed by a sharp right turn app. 500m later. Here you should turn right.
