Cascina 47 is a more than two hundred year old farmhouse. It was recently renovated to a high standard, emphasizing its old walls, vaulted ceilings and other original features, whilst incorporating all modern comforts. The former loft and garages have been turned into living space. The furniture in the house echoes this mix of old and new. Moreover you will find ample space and comfort, a necessity when sharing a house with twelve people.

Cascina 47 is situated a short distance from San Donato (Mango) in the southern Piedmont. The high vantage point (±600m) of this small village guarantees a beautiful panorama with the Alps forming a spectacular backdrop to the rolling hills of the Langhe and Roero. The area is still relatively unknown outside of Italy. Here you can still enjoy the countryside as it has been for centuries, cherished and respected by its population. Many famous Italian wines such as the Barolo and Barbaresco are produced in this area.

Description of the area:

San Donato (Mango) is some 15 minutes from the motorway Asti - Alba, which is connected to the A 21, one of the major Italian east west motorways, guaranteeing easy access to the tunnels of the Frejus, Mont Blanc, Grand St. Bernard and Gothard.
The airports of Turin, Milan (incl. Bergamo) and Genoa, are between 110 and 225 km from San Donato. Several low cost airlines fly on a daily basis to these cities.

Climate
In this hilly part of Italy a micro climate prevails not unlike that of the Mediterranean. The many vineyards at more than 500 metres, testify to this. Looking at a weather chart, the forecast for Genoa is more likely to be accurate than that for Turin and Milan.

Landscape

A day at the seaside in the charming old town of Noli, (about one hour’ s drive) will let you experience how unspoilt the Mediterranean still can be.

The Southern Piedmont is dotted with numerous small villages with castles, churches or convents that can be seen from afar.

The villages of Barolo and Barbaresco - famous worldwide for their wines - are within a short driving distance.

Different wine and food festivities are organised from Easter until early December.
During the summer months the villages organise their own smaller fete. Not a week passes without one being held somewhere.

How to find us:

Turn off at Castagnito (at the A33 between Asti Est and Alba) and follow the signs to first Neive, than Mango and than San Donato. A few hundred meters after the sign San Donato (Frazione di Mango) when you are entering the village you come to a crossing (left Osteria Della Posta, straight in to the Village and right towards Rochetta Belbo), go right to Rochetta Belbo for 1000 meters and turn left (on your right you will see a very small chapel) on to an unpaved road. Turn left at the top an follow the paved road until you reach the house.

Comments on the rates:

During the summer months the house is for rent on a weekly basis.
In spring and autumn the minimum stay is 3 to 4 nights.

Weekly change of linen and towels is included in the price.

Heating charges may be applicable from October to May.

At the time of booking an initial payment of 30%.
The remainder must be paid 4 weeks before arrival.

On arrival payment of a deposit of ¤ 500, which will be returned to you (after checking and no damages) at departure.
