For instance, the area has beautiful, unspoilt, sandy beaches which can easily be compared with the Caribbean. The Ionic Sea (summer temperature 28°C) offers crystal-clear waters, refreshing sea air (ideal in the summer temperatures ) and its soft, sandy beaches offer ample opportunity for bathing and sun-bathing.

Von Süddeutschland aus gibt es zwei Routen. Einmal über Stuttgart bzw. Karlsruhe über A5 in die Schweiz, durch den Gotthard-Tunnel weiter nach Bellinzona und Lugano zum Grenzübergang Chiasso. In Italien weiter über Como - Mailand - Modena - Bologna - Rimini - Ancona - Pescara - Bari - Taranto. Zum anderen über Österreich: München - Innsbruck – Brenner – Verona – Modena – Ancona und weiter wie beschrieben. Bei Massafra endet die Autobahn A14 (Adriatica), nach Taranto sind es dann noch 16 Kilometer Landstraße. Bei Taranto gibt es einen Wegweiser zur Autobahn nach Brindisi/Grottaglie. Hier müssen Sie nach links abbiegen und befinden sich dann auf einer vierspurigen Umgehungsstraße. Nach einigen Kilometern kommt die Ausfahrt San Giorgio Ionico. Biegen Sie hier ab und fahren ab hier immer in Richtung San Giorgio Ionico weiter. Die nächsten Ortschaften hinter San Giorgio Ionico sind Monteparano - Fragagnano - Sava Manduria.
